Advice for someone who wants to start investing/ mining now

Heard about bitcoin when it started. Never had the money or financial security to invest in bitcoin.

Now turning 40 soon and want to start investing in bitcoin. Have no dependents and no debt.

Am I too late or should I invest upto 10 percent of yearly wages in bitcoin. Also, how do I start ? Get a wallet first? Invest with a trading platform etc ?
