Announcing Bitcoin Core++

Hey all, I can't post this in /r/bitcoin since it would likely get shut down immediately. I've been around this community for a long time so I'm aware of the situation.

I've been spending some time on a small Bitcoin Core patch that requires a hard-fork 99% BIP8 versionbit activation via bit 27.

The rationale of this patch is that Bitcoin's 1MB non-weighted limit will inevitably become outdated as time passes because technology, need I say more...

I wanted to give users and miners the option to signal for larger blocks over time while still preferring to use the main-chain and have absolute minimal risk in introducing a bug by keeping the changes small.

The idea is to keep the patch up-to-date with Bitcoin Core indefinitely and as small as possible.

The patch does not go into specific of how the block-size limit should be increased, but rather removes it altogether. The idea is that a formal BIP gets merged in to formalize the new size before the fork occurs once super-majority consensus is approaching.

Due to how BIP8 works, Bitcoin Core clients will alert of unknown rule before the hard-fork occurs (last 9% of the threshold).

I will be maintaining this patch for the indefinite future. I don't expect it to get activated within the next decade but I would like to build some trust around this patch for when the time comes that the 1MB non-weighted limit is seriously outdated and Bitcoin Core's hard-fork patching process becomes a major blocker. I'll create another post here and elsewhere once its been properly reviewed and ready for main-net use and auto-generation of binaries is available.
