Bitcoin cash is slower than I remembered

Haven’t touched any bch sending in a while and I decided to fomo into some more bch yesterday amid the price increase. Decided to send it to my cold wallet. I forgot how slow bitcoin cash really is. It took over ten minutes just to get one confirmation. I thought bitcoin cash was supposed to be fast? Granted, the fee was extremely low at like 0.00001 bch. I’m not seeing how this can be a good form of currency if it takes 10 minutes + to get one confirmation. Do people really stand at the cash register that long ?
