Bitcoin Halving (Intro learning)

Background: Bitcoin runs smoothly because computers all around the world are constantly turned on and running to “check” bitcoin transactions. This is called - Mining.

So to make it worth it for people, companies, and groups to have these computers running 24/7, they are rewarded some Bitcoin if they are constantly “checking’ or verifying bitcoin transactions.

If you generally understand it to this point, you’ll understand the main point of this.

In a short amount of time (within the next month or so) the amount of Bitcoin paid to people using the computers to check transactions is going to be cut in half.

Specifically, from 6.25 BTC to 3.125 BTC.

This has happened 3 times before

  • Nov. 28, 2012, to 25 bitcoins
  • July 9, 2016, to 12.5 bitcoins
  • May 11, 2020, to 6.25 bitcoins

What could this mean?
