This price fluctuation could happen to Gold too, except..

  1. Gold is harder to sell, you have to physically go to a shop, they have to weigh it, make sure it's the right carat, etc... Bitcoin on the other hand? You just tap a button on an exchange app right from your phone, with a set fee of 0.8% or so.

  2. Gold pays less when you sell it. In my country there's 10$ price difference, like if i buy 100$ worth of gold, they'd pay me 90$ if i sell it,which makes you immediately into a loss and makes you hold it, even if gold price goes up %10 I'm only evening out, so i wouldn't sell it. Bitcoin? You just pay the fee again.

That's my view on why people still have a hard time accepting bitcoin as digital gold, because they see a lot of price fluctuation, which is caused by how easy it is to buy/sell bitcoin on exchanges compared to gold.
