Can someone help me resolve this issue in Fulcrum (Electrum Server)?

So I configured Fulcrum server for my node a few days back. Everything is working perfectly: the ports are responding and I'm able to connect through different clients through my public hostname. But, the problem lies when I'm inside my home network. The public IP/public hostname results in a "Not connected" status. No matter how long I wait, It doesn't show connected. As soon as I type the local IP of the server, it's back online. I don't want to switch from public hostname to local IP everytime I come back home. Other server applications (Apache, MySQL, etc.) are responding well to public hostnames both inside and outside the local network. There is also no port conflict that I observe. Can somebody please help me resolve the issue?
