Do people in general believe that Bitcoin is anonymous?

I believe it can be anonymous, but I also believe that 99% of people are not using btc in a way that could be considered even remotely anonymous. That said, I still regularly see people tout is as being anonymous.

What is the truth here? Do I have this all wrong? Do the DNM's have it all wrong?

This is not a troll, I am genuinely asking this question in good faith. Fundamentally I'm a proponent of cryptocurrency, regardless of which green line goes up.
