Glimpse.cash / Gaze.cash - Bitcoin cash video platform
Glimpse.cash is a Video upload/streaming platform where users can sell their videos for BitcoinCash and receive payment immediately each time a video is watched. Tips are also supported.
Glimpse.cash has existed for quite a while now (about 3-4 years) but I haven't done much work on it recently apart from making sure it stayed online and functional (but that did involve quite a lot of bit of work since BCHD node software became defunct after the network upgrade and I ended up moving to BCHN and writing my own indexer). Most of my spare time these last 2 years went into developing duelyst.gg (a competitive card/board game, unrelated to crypto, though I do want to start accepting bitcoin cash in it at some point to sell cosmetics). I want to shift some of my attention back to Glimpse.cash since I strongly believe in the use case. I don't require external funding but having extra funding will certainly be a massive boost and enable me to spend a lot more time on it than I otherwise could, So I might try running a flipstarter again. That said, as you can see if you visist the site, it is fully functional and stable, the next priorities would be improving the UI and UX and then marketing.
What would be immensely helpful to me is if Bitcoin Cash content creators where to upload their videos here, of course any other videos are also great! And also just using the site. I am very much a "Bitcoin Maximalist" in the sense that I bought my first bitcoin in 2012 and started running my own nodes and experimenting with it in 2014. The idea of being able to make low friction permission less payments to anyone at any time resonated with me and I find every other coin to be a distraction (including payment focused coins like monero/dash/nano etc as they all do disagreeable tradeoffs. So glimpse.cash will always be a BitcoinCash only platform and I work hard towards the goal of it becoming a showcase for what bitcoin is capable of.
Of course everything thus far is designed and programmed by me (database, backend, frontend, custom video player and container format) and I will happily continue on by myself but if an experienced web frontend dev wants to contribute (that is confident they can help the site look better than it currently does), please reach out to me!
One last feature I want to mention, Glimpse.cash allows you to upload any file as an attachment to a video, the idea being that if you paid to watch a video (or if the video is free) you also get access to the files. Some intended use cases were tutorial/course videos that could have all relevant files that needed to be downloaded attached to the video. What actually mostly happened is onlyfans like creators attaching high quality photos as bonus content to their videos. which, though not the intended use, is also fine. But the attachment doesn't have to be complimentary to the video, you could simply use glimpse.cash to share large files (think megaupload) by uploading a small couple seconds video along with large files. There are no ads, no "premium accounts", no "daily limits", just upload a free video with your files attached and share away. or put a price tag on it. either way. You don't even need an account to upload videos, that's optional. If giving away large amounts of free storage space like this get's people to use the site I'll take it! Of course even though that feature is available right now for free for anyone to use I have no idea how to "get the word out" on that. But if you ever need to use a filesharing site like megaupload consider using glimpse.cash instead, I promise you the experience will be a lot better.
Last point, Marketing. A skill I don't posses. I do try though, I have even run paid for ads at one point, but it wasn't very successful. Whereas I can carry the cost's of running glimpse.cash I cannot currently pay anyone to do anything but If there's anyone willing to help out in this department do reach out!
Glimpse.cash does not allow and filters out any NSFW content, but Gaze.cash exists as an alternative window into the system that allows for more types of content to be uploaded and viewed.
