Grab some more popcorn: BTC will have an uptick in their difficulty adjustment within minutes. Will this make BCH more attractive? Will the new BCH DAA make them stay?

See fork.lol

Not a big increase in difficulty, but it may be enough to see some mining return to BCH.

BCH is down to < 1% after having trended from 2% down toward the fork. Will we see a return to the 3-4% range, where the peaks hit 8% due to wild DAA gaming?

I pondered before the fork about the effects on miners: that it will be either really good or really bad. Either the miners will switch and stay, or the incentive to game BCH is gone and they will remain with BTC.

Either way, it forces miners to find another differentiator.

Although I think it is unlikely to happen soon, but what happens if any big miner(s) move away from BTC over to BCH? Even for a short spell.

If the new BCH DAA can maintain the desired block discovery rate under extreme shifts in hashpower, does it not make BCH the known stable quantity and it will be BTC that becomes the oscillating component? Perhaps it will be BTC that is gamed. Perhaps it was simply the presence of two unequal (profit) forces that one is bound to oscillate. But now that BCH can react quickly and keep better block timing, that it becomes the pivot, while BTC will see the swings in hash rate. And I believe the slow, 2 week BTC adjustment cycle will exaggerate the swings in BTC difficulty, where miners will switch to BCH for 2-week periods during high BTC difficulty levels.

I don't expect we will see this shift soon, as the recent PayPal induced market excitement will likely mask this effect.

Discuss your speculation?

Edit: BTC adjusted already
