Have had it with Coinbase. Need recommendations for alternative.

I’m ready to move away from Coinbase. My question is where or how do I move my funds to a hardware wallet or other more reliable destination than Coinbase. Once I do this what is the best alternative exchange to purchase more coins in the future? Thanks!
