How can bitcoin be seized?

I’m sorry if this is a dumb question but I saw on X that the US government just mover 2 bi in BTC from Silk Road.

So I was wondering how they seized their stack?

How’s that possible? I thought BTC was protected from crooked politician’s fingers.
