If crypto needs Visa to become mainstream, did we win?

For years the idea was that crypto would replace traditional payment rails and let people transact without relying on the same old financial system but now it seems like the most practical path to adoption is connecting crypto to the infrastructure we already use.

Maybe that’s actually a good thing. People get to use crypto without merchants changing anything but if mass adoption still depends on Visa and banks in the background, did crypto actually change the system or did it just become another layer on top of it?
