If people have to be NICE to your cryptocurrency for it to be viable, it never was.

I've seen some comments from people lately about how they're "disappointed" or they think that it's "deplorable" or even simply "not a good look" for someone to attack BCHA the way it has been in recent days, and I wanted to push back on that a little bit.

Bitcoin was invented to bring economic freedom to people, and a lot of the people involved are good, deeply altruistic people. You have to be to put so much effort into something that might never be fully realized, or may change into something you didn't intend along the way. But it was also understood that while individuals are often good, it only takes a couple bad apples to spoil the barrel, and people, as a whole, are greedy, selfish, short-sighted, and immoral.

The brilliance of Bitcoin is it's ability to harness people's negative impulses and incentivize them to act for the greater good. It's a system for turning selfish desires into actions that benefit the group as a whole.

Bitcoin ASSUMES that people will act in their own self interest ONLY. You don't have to be a nice guy. In fact if being in any way moral or decent was necessary for success, we would never have gotten where we are today.

Cryptocurrencies, like corporations, are not people. They have no moral or ethical "right" to exist. They aren't good or evil, they just...are. If they help people, we call them good, but that's more a product than an innate property.

If someone wants to DDOS a chain (any chain) or if they want to Fork a chain (any chain) they can. If you have the money and the hashpower to force a re-org, go for it. If it damages the existing chain it points to a weakness in the design, that's it. In the case of BCH, it points to a lack of effective governance mechanisms (though some would also call this a strength, even if it hurts the price in the short term.)

Cryptocurrencies are almost purely Darwinian. Eat or be eaten, survival of the fittest, etc. etc. If you cannot defend yourself, you will be eaten. This isn't good or bad, it's just the way it is. Most cryptocurrencies we see today will be gone in ten years. New ones may take their place. Some will thrive, most will not. All crypto's must find an evolutionary advantage where they outperform other chains in some real world function to survive.

I care deeply about crypto and BCH, but I'm also a realist. If I start getting upset because people don't like my chain, or they're hostile to it that's on me. I made the mistake of thinking people have any duty at all to be nice. They don't and they won't. This is the ONLY way that cryptocurrency can succeed.

Craig was totally within his rights to fork off and create BSV, even if I don't like it. Amaury was also within his rights, and whoever is attacking BCHA is also totally within their rights to do so, even if Amaury doesn't like it. This isn't a hippy love commune. We work together because we want the same thing. If we like each other great, but it's really beside the point.
