Is btc just for trading?

I remember hearing about crypto for the first time (i think in 2016) and was hyped about it because its the only easy payment method that doesn't need id cards or to be in certain country, but to me people only use to trade for quick money because it's price moves so much you cant use it as money, you might say there are stable coins like usdt but when i watched videos about btc they all talk about how good it is and safe and banks don't control it etc... but all i see is trading
