Is BTC maximalism going too far?

I’ve been in Bitcoin for years and still believe it’s the strongest monetary asset we have. But I’ve noticed a growing pattern in the community—where disagreement is met with hostility instead of honest dialogue.

There’s a term for this: identity-protective cognition, when people reject information not because it’s wrong, but because it challenges their identity. In Bitcoin, this often looks like dismissing all altcoins as scams, calling any critique FUD, using phrases like “have fun staying poor” to mock instead of educating. It's tribal behavior that needs to be addressed

These habits don’t make the case for Bitcoin stronger. They make it harder for new people to engage, and they reduce our ability to think critically. Conviction in Bitcoin doesn’t require shutting down conversation

I grew up religious (I'm not anymore) and talking to some of you reminds me of when I was in that world. Seeing people revere Michael Saylor as some sort of prophet when he's honestly just one of the biggest shills. Religious people are also obsessed with "purity." Anything less than 100% conviction is considered immoral (People getting triggered by being told diversification is good).

I'm not saying we're all like that. Just wanted to rant about how I can't escape the culty nature of people.
