is quantum computing a threat to bitcoin?
Quantum computing is advancing at a rapid pace. Major breakthroughs have been achieved in recent months, and progress is accelerating faster than predicted. Chinese researchers have already managed to break encryption. What are your thoughts on this? Am I the only one who sees a genuine threat emerging for Bitcoin and all other blockchains?
I’ve looked into this, and it appears it would take Bitcoin 1-2 years to fork to a quantum-resistant blockchain.
I recently came across Cellframe, a blockchain that has been developing a quantum-resistant platform for the past seven years. They have used C programming, which is much more complex, and have implemented four layers of quantum security. If quantum computers somehow manage to breach one layer, they still have three more to overcome. Additionally, Cellframe can continuously improve its security without needing to fork.
I noticed that their two-way bridge to their blockchain went live and into beta this week. Could this become a vital and resilient blockchain for the future? If other blockchains become vulnerable in the coming years, one would almost expect people to seek refuge in the Cellframe blockchain.
What are your thoughts on this blockchain and on quantum computing?
