My troubles with the MacOS trading bot that integrated Reddit
I’ve been running a MacOS trading bot that’s supposed to use Reddit posts as part of its automated trading strategy, and i wanted to share some of the issues i've been facing. The core automated trading logic handles things like order execution and stop-loss adjustments very well, but the integration with Reddit sentiment is a whole different story. I experimented a lot with the parameters trying to optimize the bot’s response to Reddit data, and in the process, i seem to have overfitted the algorithm. Instead of picking up genuine market sentiment, it’s now reacting too aggressively to minor or off-topic posts.
I’ve also run into significant timing issues problems that i think are directly caused by messing with the settings too much. The bot now lags behind actual conversation trends; by the time it reacts, the market has already moved. My excessive tinkering also made it struggle to filter out noise from irrelevant or misleading posts, which only worsened the trading decisions. Overall, while i’m still impressed with the idea behind blending automated trading with social sentiment analysis, these challenges have made me rethink how much trust to place in the things discussed on Reddit.
If anyone else got it through the r/macOStradingbot ,i’d really appreciate any insights or settings you’ve found to better balance the Reddit integration. Looking forward to hearing what you guys done.
