NIST Announces Post-Quantum Cryptography Standards

TL;DR: The National Institute of Standards and Technology has announced the standardization of quantum-proof algorithm for cryptographic schemes. They are encouraging most tech to upgrade to these.

This could have implications for Bitcoin as it would allay fears of seeing the technology crumbling (as well as the value) due to the emergence of quantum computers. Bitcoin would need to implement these new quantum-resistant algorithms to replace the currently used ones.
