Running a Bitcoin Node on 'everyday' pc.

Does anyone have any eperience of running a Bitcoin node on their main pc (used for everyday computing tasks) rather than on a stand-alone? I'm interested in the pros and cons, especially the cons with regards to security risks. Thanks in advance for your feedback.
