So what happens to BTC if it becomes a "greenwashing" target?

Bitcoin noob here, but my basic understanding is that there is a fair bit of computing behind every crypto transaction, plus the mining and everything else and that it's possible that crypto in general becomes a big target for it's environmental "impact",

How would this impact a "standard user" who just wants a couple grand hiding away or for a couple transactions here and there and how likely do you think this is to happen?
