The answer too- there’s a lot of chat at the moment about people being locked out of Coinbase when trying to sell, some waiting a year in cases with no response and no money back
Laymen’s terms -
First of all you want to buy a hardware wallet , when it arrives make sure it’s not been tampered with in anyway! If so send it back
Then personally i spend 500/600 bucks this way it keeps fees down and when I’ve bought my currency it goes straight into my wallet this was when I sell if bitcoin is playing up I don’t have that problem
When you get your wallet make sure you keep the seed phrase essentially your password to your crypto in laymen’s terms
This way I haven’t encountered a problem since buying the hardware wallet I did once when I just used Coinbase luckily I was only locked out a week
