The name that is Bitcoin CASH and I hate it

It might be just me but I really dislike that Bitcoin Cash is often associated with Bitcoin Core or more commonly known as THE Bitcoin.

My first impression on Bitcoin Cash (BCH) was “what is this? Is this a copycat of Bitcoin (BTC)?” Then I learned more about it and found out that BCH is much superior to BTC in every way and is the true Bitcoin.

But what I know now doesn’t really matter because most people don’t have the time nor the interest to do their research into Bitcoin to find out the fact that BCH is the real Bitcoin.

What that means is that BCH will always live in the shadow of BTC and there will always be a misconception about BCH being a copycat of Bitcoin although it’s not true.

Perhaps in the future, people will accept BCH as a functional peer to peer cash instead of the broken “store of value” BTC. But will that happen for sure? It’s hard to tell.

What I do know is that the name “Bitcoin Cash” is absolutely not a great name or a brand. Imagine if Toyota’s name was “Mercedes Car”. That would create a massive misunderstanding and bias against the great car company even though their cars are great in quality.

Another thing to point out is the fact that you have to explain the difference between Bitcoin Core and Bitcoin Cash to new comers. They have to be informed that Bitcoin Cash is not Bitcoin Core and vice versa. Why? Because both have the name “Bitcoin” in it.

I think BCH is great and it should be successful if the world embraces cryptocurrencies as a spendable currency system. But as long as BCH has the name “Bitcoin” in it, there will be many confused people and negative biases against it.
