Too late to invest in btc?

I am sat on some savings which I do not use and they gain minimal interest, I have been toying with the idea of investing for a while and I am wondering if It is too late to invest in btc or would now be an ideal time given the current dip?
I was thinking about putting a chunk in now and then x amount every month indefinitely and somewhat forgetting about it, and hoping that in 30 years I will have accumulated a bit of profit from it to aid towards retirement.
Would this be a wise idea, thinking long term?
