Verify Bitcoin core after installation?

I recently installed Bitcoin core to run a full node but I didn't didn't verify like it suggests on bitcoin.org. After reading a tutorial on how to verify I want to do that to dispell my paranoia lol. Can I perform the verification process after the full node is running? And even if I can would that even prove the software I'm running is legit? I guess the other option is I wipe the hard drive and start over.
