What is real inflation?

I have a friend who’s anti-Bitcoin because he’s a stubborn noob and I’m talking to him about real inflation is not CPI. I’ve heard it along the way that real inflation is around 10% to 12% in recent years does anybody here have any resources that I can reference to prove the point of the debasement of money?
