What would happen if bitcoin market cap passes gold?

Bitcoin has broken records and doesn't really look like it wants to slow down.

Usually when it hits certain milestones more people wake up to what bitcoin can really do.

I've been pondering on what might happen if bitcoin actually surpasses gold it market cap. What does it mean? What are is consequences, and what kind of future are we looking at?
