Will Bitcoin long run just preserve purchasing power?

Most here seem to say Bitcoin goes up as it demonetizes other assets.

But if its growth is also tied to inflation and added liquidity, will it really only be valuable when buying regular goods and services also be astronomically high?

In the short term during price discovery it may get ahead of the inflation but longer term does it really just represent a preservation of our purchasing power?
